Waxworks

The Waxworks Music Initiative is an innovative social enterprise that uses music as a tool for youth engagement, specifically with those at risk of offending or exclusion from school.

The programme is recognised as a flagship youth engagement initiative that helps youngsters re-engage with society through music. Its focus is around music production, DJ skills, performance and recording.

Be Involved has supported Waxworks since 2005, when it was set up. Over the years Waxworks has relied heavily on support from the private sector, specifically major manufacturers of music equipment such as Pioneer, Sennheiser, Vestax and Denon. Waxworks attributes much of their success with these partnerships to the transfer of skills from the Be Involved team to their organisation. 

Ed Williams, co-director of Waxwoks said,

'The Be Involved project has provided invaluable support and assistance in many ways. They have been a key factor in aiding the development of our Social Enterprise model which has helped us achieve the many success stores of Waxworks.

Be Involved have offered continual help with numerous successful funding initiatives, including both raising monies to support core costs and in gaining sponsorship and donations of professional audio equipment from the private sector. This has been an essential element in facilitating our overall progression as one of Bradford's best and most effective youth enterprises, helping us to form our unrivalled service which benefits the hundreds of young people under our remit.

Be Involved believe in our team and our service. They have championed our work and lobbied for support, helping us create new business networks, which in turn have aided the development of many strong partnerships between us and other key players in the district. The Be Involved team has been fundamental in raising Waxworks' profile within the community, education and social sector and we are truly grateful for everything they have done.
